Team Aashraya: Most popular NGO of India

Prashraya Welfare Foundation (Team Aashraya) is a student-led section- 8 Non-profit organization, working in 25+ states and union territories across India with a team of 1.5k+ members and with the common goal of bringing about a revolution in our society that will improve lives and make people happier.

We started as Maa Narmada Sena(MNS) on June 21st, 2019, in Tumda, a remote village in Madhya Pradesh to spread awareness about Environmental conservation. Later we became Team Aashraya at NITK in October 2019.

The five main fields we focus on to make developments are Paryavaran (Environmental conservation), Vastra (Basic amenities), Chikitsa (Healthcare), Shiksha (Education & Awareness), and Shakti (Women Empowerment & Safety).

Some of the projects that we have conducted include – The Narsinghpur project & Pustak Daan (ongoing), Aashraya Vidyalaya (ongoing), Sneh, Teach for Good, Sarva Shiksha, Shakti Week, Cloth donation drives, All India Book donation drives, tree plantation drives, and many more. 

We have conducted the All India Book Donation Drive and Shakti Week under the supervision of IAS Srushti Jayant Deshmukh and IAS Nagarjun B Gowda. Our ongoing Narsinghpur project is under the guidance of IAS Saurabh Sonawane.

One of the finest works done by our team is the ‘COVID warrior project’, when the country was shrinking in the dark when the people were losing hope for life when every single day seemed like a curse,  our brave members of team Aashraya came out as the warriors to bring back the hope in everyone’s life. With the selfless motive to save every single life, we tried giving our best,  from collecting food for the needy to managing the hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, etc we met victory.

The current Narsinghpur Project is an initiative in collaboration with Zila panchayat, Narsinghpur to establish free libraries in every Gram Panchayat of Narsinghpur district, Madhya Pradesh. Our team is working to collect the books in this project under the Pustak Daan campaign. It is said that “Education is the most powerful weapon” so what’s more fabulous than spreading this richness among all?

And you can always be a part of Team Aashraya, by becoming a member and taking up some work, volunteering, or donating funds or books, clothes, etc. We appreciate people joining and contributing to a noble cause. 

As Swami Vivekananda once said “Arise! Awake! And stop not, until the goal is reached”.

Until and unless we don’t achieve a point where education is provided to all and no one remains deprived of it, where everyone has a responsibility towards our environment and tends to preserve it, and where the basic necessities like food, clothing, etc., are given to all, where everyone is privileged to have proper healthcare, where everyone is empowered, this en-route for a social cause shall continue.

In a generation full of competition and desire for the advancement of themselves, let’s try contributing to the welfare of others.
